DIVERSEcity’s Language Training and Literacy Programs offer a range of free English language classes to permanent residents and refugees, from Literacy to Level 6, including LINC preparation classes for Literacy and multi-barrier students (LINC Assistance and Readiness Class, or LARC). These classes are designed to support the needs of the community through the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program. They are offered at different times of the day and week to accommodate the needs of clients, and are supported by on-site childcare. The program also ensures that newcomers are provided information about community services and resources and ensures that newcomers acquire skills for adapting to Canadian society and the Canadian work environment.
In participation with Paragon Testing, DIVERSEcity hosts CELPIP (Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program) testing. This fee-for-service testing provides proof of English language fluency in support of admission to post-secondary institutions or in support of an application for citizenship.
