Stopping the Violence Counselling Program

DIVERSEcity’s Stopping the Violence Counselling program uses trauma-informed therapeutic approaches to support self-identified women survivors of violence in their healing journey.

We provide supportive counselling through both individualized services and group-based sessions to women of various cultural backgrounds who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or historical abuse, or are at risk of abuse.

With the help of our counselling program, you will:

  • Get one-on-one support to help understand the nature of the violence experienced
  • Help to identify your goals through service planning and explore available service options
  • Create better safety around you as you move forward in your healing journey
  • Participate in group-based sessions to share experiences and learn about violence and healthy coping techniques

Stopping the Violence Multicultural Outreach Program

In addition to our counselling, DIVERSEcity’s Stopping the Violence Multicultural Outreach Program provides safe and protective support for self-identified women who have experienced intimate partner violence, through practical assistance and supports.

This can include accompanying you to court appointments, learning various skills such as using public transit, and exploring information and referrals you need to create safety for you and your family. DIVERSEcity’s outreach workers support women’s abilities to identify their goals and to connect them to community resources.

With the help of our outreach program, you will:

  • Get one-on-one support including practical supports, accompaniments, information and referrals
  • Create better safety around you as you move forward in your healing journey
  • Participate in group-based sessions to share experiences and learn about violence and healthy coping techniques
