DIVERSEcity COVID-19 Safety Plan

Keeping our clients, volunteers, employees and contractors safe during COVID-19

In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic led to the closure of all DIVERSEcity sites. We pivoted quickly to provide services to our clients remotely via email, phone and web options. As of September 2020, we have developed a DIVERSEcity COVID-19 Safety Plan to guide our careful approach to reopening DIVERSEcity’s physical locations, following WorkSafeBC recommendations, for some in-person services, specifically child care, education, health and one-to-one counselling settings.

General safety guidelines for clients and visitors

Please do NOT enter a DIVERSEcity campus if you:

  • Have a fever, cough or flu-like symptoms
  • Have recently travelled internationally
  • Have recently been in contact with someone who has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19

Not sure if you meet the above restrictions? Take the BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool here.

Prior to visiting a DIVERSEcity campus, please:

  • Make sure you have an appointment (no walk-ins allowed at this time).
  • Please complete the Client Health Check Survey one to two days in advance of your appointment with the help of your DIVERSEcity case worker or employee.
  • Do not bring other family members with you to your appointment, unless discussed with your DIVERSEcity case worker or employee in advance. Everyone attending the appointment will have to have completed a Client Health Check Survey as well.
  • Bring your own pen, documentation and other essentials (e.g., mask, water bottle).

When you arrive:

  • Please wait outside the main entrance until your designated appointment time.
  • Ensure you physically distance (6 feet) after entering the building. Wait to enter if the lobby is busy.
  • Please wear a mask as you enter the building and in all common areas. If you do not have a mask of your own, we have some disposable ones available at reception.
  • Follow the directional arrows on the ground and follow the room occupancy maximums.
  • Use hand sanitizer as you enter. There is hand sanitizer available in the lobby if you do not have your own. Wash hands or use sanitizer as needed throughout your visit.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow.

If you have any questions or want to make an appointment, please contact your DIVERSEcity case worker or employee directly. For general information, phone 604-597-0205.

Health Check Survey for volunteers

In addition to following the general safety guidelines above, volunteers must complete the pre-shift Volunteer Health Check Survey on the day they are to visit a DIVERSEcity site or perform any in-person service:

Complete the Volunteer Health Check Survey here.

The survey is not required if you are volunteering remotely only.

Health Check Surveys for employees and contractors

In addition to following the general safety guidelines above, all employees and contractors must complete the pre-shift Employee and Contractor Health Check Survey before visiting a DIVERSEcity site for any reason, and before providing any in-person service, including on-site appointments and community-based accompaniment.

Complete the Employee and Contractor Health Check Survey here.

Employees must also assist their clients in completing the Client Health Check one to two days prior to their scheduled appointment.

Complete the Client Health Check Survey on behalf of your clients here.

Employees should follow up with their clients verbally again just prior to the scheduled appointment to ensure they continue to meet the safety guidelines. Please also remind them to bring their own pen, documents and mask. If they don’t have a mask of their own, we have some disposable ones available at reception.

Please note that the staff entrance at DIVERSEcity Community Campus is through the back door via the parking lot, while clients should enter via the 76 Avenue entrance.
