If you need mental health or substance use support, DIVERSEcity’s Counselling Services department is here to help you and your whole family with free, culturally sensitive, confidential help in your first language. Our highly trained, compassionate counsellors and clinicians can support your journey to emotional wellbeing. During COVID-19, our counselling sessions are primarily by telephone.
Our programs address the needs of immigrants and refugees in their adjustment to the changes, challenges and losses that come with immigrating to a new country. These programs provide short-term, solution-focused counselling and support services in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Spanish, Mandarin, Farsi and English.
All Counselling Services staff meet the specific educational requirements for each stream of service and are experienced in cross-cultural counselling. In addition, the clinical staff are multilingual, masters’ level counsellors registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
Staff members are provided with ongoing professional development training to ensure that the standard of service delivery continues to meet or exceed internationally recognized standards of practice.
Clinical management is provided to all staff by a qualified practitioner with a minimum of five years’ experience in clinical supervision. DIVERSEcity offers a unique opportunity for interns and practicum students within the following fields: counselling psychology, social work, and child and youth care.
