Sonia Parmar is a partner at David Pel & Company, a growing local accounting office located in Central City Surrey, where Sonia advises clients on corporate and personal estate and succession planning, all the while ensuring clients have met their reporting needs. Sonia is also responsible for the efficient running of the office. Sonia has always surrounded herself with mentors that believe in giving back to the community, inspiring her involvement with DIVERSEcity as well as other foundations and community boards, such as SurreyCares Community Foundation and Symington Symbiotic Foundation. Even though David Pel & Company is a general public practice office, the firm also believes in giving back to the community and giving generously to various community initiatives throughout the year.
To aid in the running of a growing practice, Sonia is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) as well as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. She is an alumna of the University of Northern British Columbia with a bachelor of commerce in finance. Sonia gained her experience in the public practice sector by working at international as well as local mid-sized accounting offices.
Being the first born in an immigrant family, she understands the dreams, hopes and ambitions newcomers like her family bring with them to this vast country. Sonia hopes to learn more about how to help new immigrants, while bringing her skillset in accounting to assist DIVERSEcity in any way possible.
