Is your daughter interested in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)? Are you looking for a free hands-on program to build her confidence and motivate her to continue her studies in STEM?
Power Girls STEM program, in partnership with Science ALIVE program at Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Applied Science, aims to empower racialized girls aged 9–12 to gain a new approach to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programming while breaking down social norms and barriers.
Through hands-on activities and specific guidance, the girls will:
• follow a project-based engineering curriculum to explore the various fields of engineering
• learn about a variety of female engineers and their achievements
• build their own project that demonstrates their learning
A new 14-week session starts online via Zoom, every Saturday at 9:45 am, beginning February 20.
Who’s eligible?
• Girls aged 9–12
• Permanent residents, refugee claimants or Canadian citizens
