We take a supported employment approach to help men facing multiple barriers find their place in the labour market. The S.A.H.A.R.A. program allows you to earn while you learn and offers:
- 6 weeks of paid online workshops – combined psych-education and job readiness skills. Participants are paid maximum $250/week – based on workshop attendance
- Individualized Support, 1 on 1 counselling with a qualified clinical counsellor, if needed
- Short-term occupational skills training (Forklift, Computer Skills training, First Aid/CPR, etc.)
- Paid work experience (P/T or F/T) up to a maximum of 120 hours, with support from an employment specialist
- Tuition Fee Support
- $250 bonus for completing three months of employment or post-secondary education
Program Eligibility
- Primarily racialized Men who are unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week
- Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- Minimum English Level 4 (workshops are delivered in English)
- With 1 or more barriers to employment such as:
- Health, anxiety, depression or addiction issues
- A criminal record
- Lack of basic education and skills to obtain employment
- Lack of Canadian work experience
IT requirements:
- Access to internet or WiFi
- Smartphone, tablet or computer
- Able to participate via Zoom and MS Teams
- Quiet space to participate in workshops Monday to Thursday, 9:30 am – 12:00 pm
