We had the honour of having Farah Kotadia as our emcee, and Ana María Zúniga, Mai Eilia, and Gurman Thind as our Inspirational Speakers. Ana Maria shared her journey on how she took her services to multinational companies and provided services to help her clients grow their business by bridging cultural divides with words to reach their audience. While Mai shared how she successfully overcame the struggles of being a refugee and a woman, and entered the male-dominated industry of home renovation! Finally Gurman, an entrepreneur at heart who never gives up, shared the journey of how he explored and learned from his first 2 business ideas and is currently implementing his third business venture.
The Immigrant Entrepreneur Grant is offered to 3 exceptional immigrant entrepreneur businesses every year that exceed our application guidelines. Out of the 16 amazing grant applicants who showcased their businesses at the event, three exceptional applicants were chosen and received the $1000 grant each. Congratulations to Organic Villa, Sherabo Organics, and Clayton Glass! We also had the honour of having last year’s recipient, Matthias Klenk who performed and talked about the year after receiving the grant.
A special thanks to TD Canada Trust as our Program Sponsor, Simon Fraser University for being our Grant Sponsor, and WorkBC as our General Sponsor – we could not have done it without their support!
Please check our program website www.surreyimmigrantentrepreneur.ca for more event highlights and photos!
We look forward to seeing everyone in 2019 for our 4th Immigrant Entrepreneur & Small Business Fair!
