Many of the seniors we work with are not just participants — they are caregivers, volunteers and culture-bearers. Their dedication inspires us to serve with the same heart and to keep building programs that honour their contributions. This #BCSeniorsWeek, we celebrate their care and legacy, including those from our Newcomer Family and Friend Caregiver Program. We held a caregiver wellness workshop this week to help give back some knowledge and care to the selfless, amazing caregivers we support in our program. DIVERSEcity’s Seniors and Newcomer Settlement teams were invited by CCM Canada 加拿大中信 (Chinese Christian Mission) and the Love for Surrey Community Group — two volunteer-led organizations — to take part in the Surrey Newcomers Fun Fair at Calvary Church, along with other organizations like S.U.C.C.E.S.S. and Options Community Services. The event welcomed 200+ participants, primarily from Chinese communities living in the Fraser Heights and Whalley areas. This age-friendly and interactive event gave us the chance to connect with many families to DIVERSEcity's booth. We addressed a wide range of concerns, including settlement, housing, healthcare navigation, social engagement and more.DIVERSEcity's Lin and Leslie said they were truly grateful for the chance to support the community in a culturally meaningful and collective way.Learn more about our seniors and newcomer settlement programs here: www.dcrs.ca#ForPeopleForCommunities #newcomers #Chinesecommunity #FraserHeights ...
