Hate happens close to home, right in our communities. Data shows us that hate crimes are on the rise in BC. In 2021, the province saw the highest increase in non-violent and religion-based hate crimes. In 2023, BC saw the highest increase in overall hate crimes reported, including violent crimes and those motivated by race and ethnicity or sexual orientation. Feeling overwhelmed by the statistics seen in in this video? Here are some actions you can take: 🤝🏼 Speak out against hate when you see or hear it. 🤝🏼 Learn about other cultures and people in our communities. 🤝🏼 Support and stand with marginalized communities in solidarity against hate. 🤝🏼 Report hate crimes and incidents when they happen. 🤝🏼 Join us in advocating for change and building a more inclusive, welcoming society. Our Together Against Hate project, supported by a grant from United Way British Columbia, provides both in-person and online spaces for information exchange and advocacy. Be part of the conversation and discover more about the Together Against Hate project and upcoming workshops at: www.dcrs.ca/resources/together-against-hate-project/ including this Saturday’s Pathways to Kinship: Bridging Indigenous and Settler Communities workshop. Spots are still available.*The following data was taken from Statistics Canada. #ForPeopleForCommunities #TogetherAgaisntHate #unitedwaybc #SurreyBC #DeltaBC #Guildford #Newton #GreaterVancouver #BC ...
