With expertise in organizational assessments, racial equity and community-based solutions, she centers on intersectionality, lived expertise and self-empowerment. As Project Manager at The Inclusion Project, she engages with non-profits, academia, government, law enforcement and grassroots organizations to facilitate community-informed approaches to inclusive change. Zara has a diverse range of experience supporting organizations such as Victoria Foundation, Vancouver Foundation, BC Muslim Association, Canadian Women & Sport, BCOHRC and more with value-based work. ![]()

Mahado is a Co-Director at Solid State Community Industries, an economic development organization based in Surrey, dedicated to the establishment of a solidarity economy through cooperatives.![]()

Mahado has recently co-founded Afiya Care Collective, a community service co-op that focuses on the health inequities faced by the Black, African and Caribbean population of BC. ![]()

She is also a mentor for Salam Central, a youth-led initiative founded in 2021 by high school students to create safe spaces for Muslim youth and families. ![]()
