DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is hosting its inaugural DIVERSEcity in the Arts Exhibition and Fundraiser On Thurs, November 19th, 2015, 5:00-7:00pm at DIVERSEcity Community Campus(13455 76th Ave, Surrey).
This event is designed to support emerging local immigrant and refugee artists in promoting and selling their art at the DIVERSEcity community campus in Surrey. Our event brings together artists and art patrons to celebrate their work while also raising much needed funds to support programming costs to resettle recently arrived local refugees in British Columbia.
Surrey is currently the number one destination for recently arrived refugees in the province. Funds raised through the event will be used to support refugee clients with their many settlement needs. DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society has been a leader in the provision of programs and services that meet the specialized needs of clients with refugee experience since 2003.
In particular, DIVERSEcity delivers the Moving Ahead Program (intensive case management support for vulnerable clients), literacy and language training programs for multi-barriered clients, counselling services, employment support services, community kitchen and garden programs, as well as programs that support refugee families with young children (First Steps Program and IMPACT Parenting program). Given the recent attention and action related to the Syrian Refugee Crisis, DIVERSEcity will be seeing an influx of new clients from the region.
Please help us not only in supporting local immigrant artists but also recently arrived refugees with their settlement needs.
