DIVERSEcity is excited to announce Dr. Daljit Gill-Badesha of DGB Consulting Group Inc. as the Equity Consultant for the BUILD BC-Yukon program! In this role, Daljit provides one-on-one coaching, mentorship and resource support to participating grassroots organizations. Daljit played a key role in supporting the original pilot program, we’re thrilled to welcome her back as part of this renewed initiative. Dr. Daljit Gill-Badesha is a seasoned social impact leader with 30 years of experience across the non-profit and government sectors in BC and nationally. She is deeply committed to public service, currently serving as Chair of BC’s Provincial Child Care Council and as an appointed member of BC’s inaugural Anti-Racism Data Committee. Daljit is the fractional Executive Director of SACH Community Hub BC – South Asian Community Hub, where she continues to build impactful partnerships and systems for sustainable community development. In addition, her consulting firm provides strategic leadership education, business coaching and equity-focused consulting services. Drawing on her lived experience and leadership of SACH BC, a grassroots organization, Daljit understands both the systemic barriers and the untapped strengths that these organizations hold. Her approach centres relational leadership, inclusive policy thinking and equitable capacity building — ensuring that organizations are not only supported but also positioned to thrive. Daljit is deeply committed to creating spaces where local leaders, often closest to community issues, are equipped with the tools, confidence and resources to drive transformational change from within.Looking to build your capacity, growth and impact as a grassroots organization? New episode alert! 🎙️ In the latest episode of DIVERSEtalks, host Ria Renouf sits down with DIVERSEcity’s Nicolas Tellez-Espana, Manager of the Surrey Local Immigration Partnership, to explore the challenges and opportunities in the foreign credential recognition process in #Canada.Nicolas breaks down what it means to have your credentials recognized and how the current system can delay or derail the career paths of highly skilled newcomers. He reflects on the emotional and financial toll this process can take, especially when immigrants are forced to take on survival jobs far below their qualifications. The conversation highlights why improving credential recognition is not only a matter of fairness, but also critical for strengthening Canada’s labour force—particularly in high-demand sectors like healthcare. Nicolas shares what organizations like DIVERSEcity are doing to make a difference, from community-based programs to advocacy at the policy level. He also offers insights into what must change to ensure a more inclusive, streamlined and equitable approach for immigrants with international credentials. Now streaming on Spotify and YouTube.Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/0jM0lRsgTGo8KJmmTLEusB?si=3025acf4df4e416cYouTube: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNxSbBoxF-ksIyuthpfl583eKbZX8Dz3z#DIVERSEtalks #ForPeopleForCommunities #SurreyBC #Delta #Canada #Immigration #Canada #ForeignCredentials #credentialling #credentials #foreigncredential #credentialrecognition #podcast #newcomers ... Last week at DIVERSEcity’s School’s Out Summer Camp, in partnership with United Way BC - Lower Mainland, our campers explored the theme of Service to Community — and a special visit from Delta Police Department brought that to life. Delta Police officers took time to talk about community safety, answer curious questions, and even let the kids explore a police car up close! The kids were so moved, they wrote heartfelt thank-you cards on their own — a beautiful example of the values we’re nurturing through camp.Thank you to United Way BC for helping create these moments for children in Delta this summer.Learn more about School’s Out here: www.dcrs.ca/our-services/youth-programs/child-and-youth-camps/#ForPeopleForCommunities #SurreyBC #DeltaBC #summer #kids #summercamp #camp ...
