Recently our settlement team welcomed students from the Community Support Worker program at SELC College to DIVERSEcity Surrey Community CampusIt was a great day of sharing, and we are so happy we got to give them a tour and share with them who DIVERSEcity is and the services we provide. They are finishing their program in two months and then go on to do 100 hours of practicum experience and we wish them all the best! Last week we had the honour of hosting Michael Kelly-Gabriel and Allie Keitlah, representatives from Kwantlen First Nation, at DIVERSEcity. We shared a meal. Listened to their stories. Shared a bit of ours. Connected as people who care deeply for their communities. As Michael stated, “community comes first,” a value that DIVERSEcity shares. It was a beautiful day of storytelling, sharing space and getting to know each other. We look forward to listening and continued learning through our ongoing relationship with Kwantlen First Nation and other Indigenous communities. Michael shared the sentiment of “don’t carry our pain, carry our truth” and we remain dedicated to carrying forward the truth in our work. ... See MoreSee Less

Last week we had our successful Diverse Tailors shopping showcase event at DIVERSEcity Surrey Community Campus! You can now purchase any of these products through the website here: immipreneur-network.square.site/diverse-tailors The Diverse Tailors are a group of refugees with sewing experience from their homelands in Africa who are part of The Diverse Entrepreneurs Business Incubator. Overcoming language barriers and adapting to a new style of sewing machines in Canada, the Diverse Tailors have been diligently crafting a collection of high-quality, vibrant tote bags, crossbody bags, grocery bags, lunch bags, aprons and more from upcycled street festival banners. We want to thank everyone who attended the Diverse Tailors' Special Sales Event on August 28. Your overwhelming support truly touched our hearts and made the day unforgettable. Thanks to your generosity, we’re already halfway to our goal of purchasing sewing machines for each tailor, empowering them to continue their self-employment journey. #ForPeopleForCommunities #SurreyBC #Guildford #Delta #Newton #artisan #totes ...
