PEACE Program

Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment Program (PEACE)

This program offers services to the mainstream population as well as immigrants and refugees living in Delta or Surrey, providing counselling in either the child’s first language or English. Through individual and group counselling, the objective of the program is to work with children who have witnessed abuse or experienced trauma in their country of origin. Goals of counselling may include helping children to develop: self-esteem, an understanding of their own emotions and healthy ways to cope with the impact of trauma. Additionally, this program aims at preventing violence against women in relationships and breaking the cycle of violent behaviour in future relationships. Services are available in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Spanish, Farsi, Arabic and English.
