PEACE Program

Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment Program (PEACE)

The PEACE program at DIVERSEcity provides supportive psycho-educational counselling for children and youth, aged three to 18, who have witnessed or experienced violence in their homes.

Some of the program goals consist of supporting children and youth to feel safe, respected, valued and heard, as well as to reduce isolation, and let children and youth know they are not alone. Other goals  may include helping children to develop self-esteem, an understanding of their own emotions and healthy ways to cope with the impact of trauma.

Additionally, this program aims at preventing violence against women in relationships and breaking the cycle of violent behaviour in future relationships. Services are available in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Spanish, Farsi, Arabic and English.
