BUILD BC-Yukon

BUILD BC-Yukon program

Do you lead an emerging non-profit organization? Looking to build your capacity, funding and impact?

Let’s build equity and community impact, together! DIVERSEcity’s BUILD BC-Yukon program supports the growth of BIPOC-led non-profit grassroots organizations in BC and Yukon providing services to newcomers, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, seniors, youth, women and people with diverse abilities.

Grassroots organizations play a critical role in offering culturally responsive, trauma-informed support grounded in lived experience, but are often under-resourced and facing systemic barriers to funding and stability. BUILD BC-Yukon is here to shift that by supporting your organizational growth and strengthening your service delivery capacity through:

  • One-on-one coaching and mentorship
  • Group training
  • Self-paced learning activities
  • Resources to improve governance and funding readiness
  • An opportunity to become a funding recipient via DIVERSEcity
  • Networking with non-profits, regional partners and AMSSA

Who’s eligible?

  • BIPOC-led grassroots organizations in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Okanagan, Northern BC or Yukon with an operating budget of $300,000 or less

Registration is open!

B.U.I.L.D.S. (BIPOC Unified Inclusive Leading Organization Development for South Fraser) Project 2024

In 2024, through DIVERSEcity’s B.U.I.L.D.S. (BIPOC Unified Inclusive Leading Organization Development for South Fraser) Project in 2024, we supported grassroots BIPOC organizations to help grow their services and impact in the community by accessing Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) federal funding.

How grassroots BIPOC organizations benefited:

  • Access capacity-building opportunities to improve your organizational readiness and capacity, within an IRCC-funded environment.
  • Receive mentorship task list for new and emerging organizations as they consider the wide range of information required to prepare a funding application.
  • Receive one-on-one mentorship, employing a JEDI-based strategy to guarantee representation and equity.
  • B.U.I.L.D.S. has developed self-paced learning activities for partners looking to strengthen organizational and service capacity.
  • Partners can engage in asynchronous capacity-building activities to support their understanding of IRCC-funding models.
  • Partners can participate in networking events that promote collaboration in the settlement sector.

B.U.I.L.D.S. Connect and Learn Sessions

Two “Connect and Learn” sessions, as part of the B.U.I.L.D.S. Program, were designed to provide valuable insights from experienced leaders in the settlement sector.

In the first session, Ryan Drew, Director of Integrated Services at S.U.C.C.E.S.S., brings more than 25 years of experience in the settlement sector. She shares her extensive background and explores critical topics such as making a meaningful impact in the sector, expanding your organizational scope and fostering collaboration among different players in the sector.
