Better at Home

Better At Home program in Surrey, BC

Helping seniors live independently in their home

The Better at Home Program provides non-medical services to any senior who wants to live independently in their home and community, while enjoying a healthy, active lifestyle. DIVERSEcity, one of several non-profit organizations delivering the program across the province, focuses on the Newton area of Surrey.

We offer many fee-based service options and some free services to support seniors to continue to live independently, including:

  • Transportation — Our volunteers use their own vehicles to drive clients to and from their homes to various appointments or community events.
  • Household help — Volunteers or contractors help clients with light housekeeping tasks such as changing light bulbs, doing dishes, mowing lawns, house cleaning and dusting.
  • Accompaniment and friendly visiting — Volunteers accompany seniors in their daily activities, such as taking a walk or completing crosswords.
  • Information and referrals — Our Navigation and Peer Support Coordinator provides information and referral services for low-income, higher needs seniors who require one-to-one support to access needed services and government benefits.
  • Social activities — Join activities and events that connect seniors to their community.
